Taking a look at the world today, there are two types of Christians I personally see: lukewarm, worldly Christians and far and few born-again Christians. I feel as if a lot of people have forgotten what it means to be a TRUE Christian and I like to share some scriptures to help remind us of what it means to be a real follower of Jesus Christ.
Mark 16:15-18:
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
1 John Chapter 2:3-4:
3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
Matthew 7:21-23:
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
John 15:16-17:
16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. 17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.
22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
John 15:5-8:
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. 6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. 8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
1 Peter 1:14-16:
14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: 15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
James 2:20-24:
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
I feel like we tend to get lost in the noise of the world and everything going on around us with, work/bills, children, health, technology, our appearances, dating etc... We tend to limit the ONE person who has the answers to all of our problems, and that's Jesus, staying connected to the Bible for ourselves, to our roots. We focus on all this fear, stress and worry meanwhile God's like HELLO, I have better for you! My goal every single day is to be less like me and more like Jesus. We could never BE perfect LIKE Jesus, but I can always KNOW how to do right in the ways towards helping the Kingdom of God by the guidance and protection of the Holy Spirit. We tend to want to focus on our desires and our wants/needs, but what we really need to be focused on is how we can be living the way God wants us to live and it tells us right here in scripture what we should be doing. Doing things like Jesus did is not considered "normal" today, but as children of God we aren't normal, we are not of this world. We need to start LIVING LIKE JESUS, acting on the anointing that we have on our lives as children of the most-high God! You don't think He knows what's best for us? God knew us before we were even in our mothers' womb! (Jereimah 1:5) Since being on my walk I have concluded that usually the things you desire and love the most in this world (it can be anyone or anything really) is EXACTLY what the Lord wants us to give up. It by any means isn't supposed to be easy, nowhere in the Bible does it say picking up our cross daily was going to be easy. Jesus was mocked, ridiculed, SPAT ON! (Matthew 26:67) This walk with Jesus isn't for the faint hearted when you are TRULY LIVING for the Lord. Once you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour it's like a huge bullseye just popped up on your back in the spiritual realm. The enemy is furious! He is going to try everything possible to test your faith, to tempt you, to find any little access point to shake your faith. But FAITH is exactly what you need on this walk, faith that you KNOW you are divinely protected, that you ACCEPT that you are called for a bigger purpose than anything in this way of living in society has to offer, that you will no longer tolerate the ways of this world, because THIS WORLD W I L L PASS AWAY! (1 John 2:17) As the scripture says, we need faith, but our faith is by our works. By what we are doing in what the Lord has called us to do and that is to declare the Kingdom of God is at hand! (Mark 1:15) We desperately look for God to save us and the Holy Spirit that dwells in each of us, that seed of God that is very much already here and alive, is yelling IT'S YOU MY CHILDREN! As born-again Christians it's our honorable duty to be a vessel in which the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Jesus who was sent by God the Father, which in return is also His spirit, to be able to use us to spread the light of Jesus and everything He stood for and commanded from us, everywhere we go! No matter the naysayers. If we are still even SLIGHTLY trusting in this world, are we fully surrendering ourselves to the will of God? Let me get back to the question, can Christians have demons?
A lot of those who claim to be Christians that I see and know also have a lot of negative or even paranormal things that happen to them, and they don't often speak of them openly. For instance, creepy dreams and I have heard of believers having paranormal experiences with seeing dead relatives, seeing shadow or full-blown entity "spirits". Things moving and shutting by themselves, hearing things. There have also been cases of full-blown demonic possession, Lester Sumrall, talks about some of his encounters in his book. To be Christian doesn't mean we stop being human. There may be times that we simply don't do the right things, but it's because we are usually allowing the enemy to have control over our thoughts and our emotions. We become prideful and maybe even bitter. Those are all ways demons legally have access to come in and kill, steal and destroy. (John 10:10) It's important to learn your authority and identity in Christ so you can repent for all sins and learn to rebuke any attacks from the enemy in the name of Jesus! So, to answer the question, yes, Christians who aren't truly living for the Lord can in fact have demons, I do not care if you got to church. Satan even knows Jesus and he trembles (James 2:19), don't be fooled. Below is a small list of a spirits Christians can indeed have from my own personal studies:
Anger
Adultery
Jealously
Blasphemy
Lying
To confirm ANYTHING with yourself always ask the Lord to reveal it to you in prayer. He doesn't always answer instantly, but He is always watching. Trust in the Holy Spirit to reveal all things to you in His timing once you begin to live in Holiness. The Bible says whatever we ask in His name we shall receive! (John 14:13) I pray this has blessed the reader in some way and I thank you so much for reading! God bless.
